Alright, by now you guys have seen the trailers for Cyberpunk 2077, if you haven't and need to be caught up, here you go...

Now we have been blessed with a 45 minute long game-play video.

Visually, the game gets it absolutely perfect.  In terms of replicating the feel, the atmosphere. the sights and sounds, and most importantly, the ATTITUDE of Night City, the execution of hat we have seen so far is flawless.  I will let you make up your own minds as far as the mechanics observed and will refrain from comment here.

I am ridiculously hyped for this game, more so than any other game, EVER. 

I am also very slowly working on updates to the site, as pain and discomfort make sitting at a keyboard somewhat difficult.

Lastly, there may be big news coming soon, watch this space.

The Datafortress 2020 File Project is restored!

Ok, so I am out of the hospital.  Thank you everyone for your messages and vibes.

As for the site, what happened was, I got a message from the host that the site was using too many scripts, which I though was weird, since the site doesn't have any scripts, then I realized that some sections of the project file still had comments turned on, and spam bots were running rampant. Infortunately I was also heavily sedated and medicated at the time, (Dilauded is fricking awesome yo) and thought it would be a great time to deleted all the users I  didn't recognize... which apparently turned into all users, which apparently included myself... because I am a fucking idiot.  Now keep in mind, I am doing this all from a shitty 80 dollar viking tablet, and again, all fucked up on pain killers.  This is where I started messing around where I shouldn't have, and end up fucking everything up.

Luckily, now, at home, and more lucid, I restored the site from an external hd and my brothers computer, so the File Projext, including the Archive and Interlock Unlimited is up and running again.

Please, let me know if you run into any problems, and again, sorry for the inconvenience.

So... I am back in the hospital with pancreatitis again.

Somehow in my medication and pain induced haze I have managed to accidentally deleted all files from the Datafortress 2020 File Project with my shitty tablet.

 I think I can restore it, but not until I can get access to a real computer.  So until they release me from hospital I am afraid the PDF files for the site are unavailable.

Where I beg shamelessly for donations again...

I hate this, not least of which because I haven't been able to update the site in any significant manner.  Last summer I made headway on be Night City guide entries, then the computer's​ motherboard ate itself.  Between that and health matters, I don't have much success getting any work done.

I am on disability as my sole income now, your donations are what kept the site up and running for the last 2 years.  I will never be able to fully express my gratitude for that.  Unfortunately the time has come to pay the host again, and on a fixed income, this is an expense that I am afraid I just can't afford without help.

Make no mistake, I have not given up on the site, and I hope to get back to updating it again as soon as I can afford another computer, but I can't promise when that will be.

The 6 best albums to game by...

I have been running games now for almost 30 years In that time, I have come across a few albums that are simply perfect for running games, no matter what genre or system. Every single one of these albums works because they are perfect at creating a mood without being distracting. What makes them work, is that they are mostly instrumental albums, and any lyrics are not in English, which keeps players from trying to sing along, thus creating a distraction for the game. Without further Adieu, and in no certain order, here are the six most perfect albums of background music for gaming you can buy.

1. Dune (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
The Toto soundtrack to the David Lynch movie. Simply epic....

2. Peter Gabriels Passion
This album is the soundtrack to the film, The Last Temptation Of Christ. Do not let that sway you in any way, judge the album on it's own merits. Gabriel immersed himself in the music of the region, Arabic, Aramaic, and Hebrew traditional music fuzed with a modern edge, this album is a must own... Also of note is his follow up, Passion Sources, which is a compilation of some of the music that inspired the sounds of his album.

3. Akira Symphonic Suite

 This albums is a masterpiece, this album is so good at keeping players on their toes, not knowing what to expect from one moment to the next, breathless with enthusiasm and trepidation, that when I worked at the Devil's Darkside Haunted House in Kansas City when it opened in 1991, I convinced the owners to use it as background music... it continued being used after I left in 1996, presumably up until it closed.




4. Rodrigo Y Gabriela 11:11

The best musical act you have never heard of. This acoustic guitar duo operate with a level of talent most popular musicians can only dream of. If you are not hooked after watching that video, you have no soul. Of all the labums on this list, this might be the most distracting, if only because anyone who listens to it will eventually start tapping in time...

5. Beastie Boys The In Sounds From Way Out
This is the first instrumental album from the Beastie Boyz, a funk and acid jazz excursion showcasing that the Boyz talent extends far beyond just rhymes and punk. Their second instrumental album, The Mix-Up, is every bit as good.

I've got spurs that jingle jangle jingle.....

Writing for the site again, it's going slow, but I finally have enough of a foundation that the train is moving... I have am picking scabs at dozens of new entries for the district guide, and in fact have a solid outline for pretty much the entirety of the project detailing Night city beyond the sourcebook. I have collaborators on that project I believe that I am excited to be working with, John and Nancy Taft...John and I are kind of Heart Bypass buddies, we had them at roughly the same time, but we are long time Cyberpunk pals. That's in addition to some of the small contributions to the District Guide project made by others over the years. Anyone else who wants to collaborate on the project, if you have ideas from your campaign you wanna see made into Datafortress 2020 canon, please get with me, here, on facebook, or by e-mail. I am also giving lots of thought to Glass Road, and think I might be moving forward on that simultaneously. And finally, I have a side project, not related to Datafortress, one I may actually try and sell/get published... its a couple of ideas that have been kicking around my head for a while. I also think I may have finally figured out a position I can run game from, so I might be running an online game or two very soon.
